About

Four people who hated timesheets.

We ran a small design studio for nine years and lost a day a month to counting hours. So we built the tracker we wanted, and then other people wanted it too.

The story so far

In 2019 our studio had six clients, four people and one spreadsheet nobody filled in. Every month ended the same way: guessing hours, arguing about them, sending invoices a week late and getting paid a month after that.

We tried the big trackers. They took screenshots, counted keystrokes and scored our 'productivity'. We felt watched, so we stopped using them, and went back to guessing.

Punchcard started as a weekend project: one button, one list of hours, one invoice. Two years later it pays for the four of us, and 18,400 people press the button every week. We still run it from the same small studio, with too many plants.

Draws every screen twice: once to make it work, once to make it louder.

    Felix Grant

    Engineering

Wrote the first timer on a train and has been making it faster ever since.

    Money and operations

Sends our invoices with Punchcard. Was the hardest person to convince.

What we believe

  1. Trust by default

Your hours are yours. No screenshots, no surveillance, no scores. If a feature needs us to watch you, we don't build it.

  2. Loud, not noisy

Big buttons, bold colours, few notifications. The app should be fun to look at and easy to ignore.

  3. Free means free

Solo is free forever, not a trial in disguise. We make money when you make money: from invoices and teams.

  4. Small on purpose

Four people, no investors, no growth hacks. We answer to the people who pay us, and we answer quickly.

Come and press the button.

Free for one person, forever. If you hate it, tell us why: we read everything.
