Why your timer lies (and how to forgive it)
By Sami Reyes, Support and docs1 min read

Every week someone writes to support with the same confession: “I forgot to stop the timer and it ran all night.” Good news: everybody does it. Here’s what we’ve learned from thousands of timesheets.
Forget-proof, not forget-free
You will forget. Plan for it. Punchcard nudges you once when a timer passes midnight, and you can drag a block back to where it belongs in two seconds. Fixing beats feeling guilty.
Round at the end, not as you go
Rounding every entry up to fifteen minutes adds up fast, and clients notice. Track the real minutes and round the invoice total instead.
Name the work, not the client
“Acme” tells you nothing in March. “Acme, homepage copy” tells you where the week went, and which client is eating it.
The honest hour
People who track honestly bill about three more hours a month than people who guess. That’s not because they work more: it’s because they finally count the small things.
